PropTech Denmark gains International Profile as new Managing Director

Michael Ambjørn joins PropTech Denmark as Managing Director from January 2022. Joining a well-established team that has grown membership and industry impact beyond expectations in 2021, the former IBMer and Urbantech MD will help scale the organization even further.

PropTech Denmark is happy to announce the newest addition to its management team, Michael Ambjørn. With Ambjørn, the member-based organization which has been working to build and now grow a sustainable and innovation-driven proptech ecosystem gains an international profile well-rooted in the Danish startup scene:

- “It is a natural transition,” says Chair Rasmus Juul-Nyholm and continues: “Michael has the international leadership experience and broad innovation ecosystem network we’re looking for to continue our growth and development of new services.

- We want to drive innovation in real estate across SMEs, startups, and corporations. And we have to do it beyond our backyard, activating and engaging the sharpest minds across the Nordics, Europe, and the world. And coming straight from the Urbantech Program with a track record of delivery across the value chain, there’s a great fit. This is also a timely opportunity to say: if you haven’t joined us already as a member, now is a great time to do so.”

International profile rooted in the Danish ecosystem

Michael Ambjørn is an ex-IBMer who has worked across five continents. Most recently as a Managing Director at Rainmaking, running the non-equity accelerator Urbantech with a portfolio of 39 startups, including Proptech members Legacy and Woodsense. The accelerator, among other things, inspired a €134m early-stage venture capital firm funding breakthrough innovations that accelerate the digital transformation and industrial automation across the built environment. Ambjørn is highly motivated to bring this experience, knowledge, and network to benefit the PropTech Denmark member base:

- “I am excited to join PropTech Denmark, joining a solid and proven team ready to scale the association further. The team has already laid a foundation that can inform, educate, and support organizational and commercial innovation, technological development, digital transformation, and the cultural requirements needed to better the industry. Let’s build on it. Let’s scale it. Together. Because we are at an inflection point for the industry and indeed for society. Our habits, behaviours, and needs are changing fast. There is a real and urgent risk of stranded assets, which will not serve any of us. It is time to step up.”

Michael also serves on a range of advisory boards, including the new Women in Tech Program from Tech Nordic Advocates and the Expert Advisory Group for Science, Innovation & Tech at the Institute of Directors in London, where he is also a Fellow.

We look forward to welcoming Michael to the team mid January!
