Q&A with Rikke Petersen, Copenhagen Capacity. Where impact meets innovation: Global eyes on Denmark’s proptech scene

We are thrilled to announce Copenhagen Capacity as a partner for PropTech Symposium’25. We took the opportunity to get some insights from Rikke Petersen, Head of Green Transition Team at Copenhagen Capacity about how a strong innovation ecosystem, cross-sector alliances, and sustainability helps position Denmark as the place to look for international companies, investors, and talent – and what she looks forward to the most at the event!

Thank you for taking the time to share your insights with us, Rikke! Why is PropTech Symposium an important platform for Copenhagen Capacity? How does it align with your broader mission to attract international investment and talent to Greater Copenhagen?

At Copenhagen Capacity, we’re always looking for opportunities to showcase Greater Copenhagen as a leading hub for sustainable, innovative solutions and PropTech is right at that intersection. The PropTech Symposium is a key platform that highlights how digitalisation and sustainability are reshaping the built environment, and it gives us a unique chance to connect with both international investors and high-growth companies.

Supporting PropTech Symposium aligns perfectly with our mission: we attract foreign companies and talent that want to make a real impact.

What are international investors and companies typically looking for when they explore Denmark's proptech and real estate scene. How can platforms like PropTech Symposium help elevate those opportunities?

International investors are looking for a few key ingredients:

  • A strong innovation ecosystem

  • Clear regulatory frameworks

  • Access to pilot opportunities,

  • And, increasingly, a strong sustainability agenda.

Denmark and Greater Copenhagen in particular ticks all of those boxes.

Events like PropTech Symposium elevate those opportunities by putting the ecosystem on display. It’s where you meet the startups, the investors, and the corporates all in one place.

Cross-sector collaboration really is key to digital transformation on a larger scale. Can you share an example where Copenhagen Capacity has helped bridge the gap between stakeholders – and what you learned from that?

One example is our involvement in projects connecting green mobility solutions with urban development – bringing together tech providers, municipalities, and infrastructure owners.

For instance, in our support of international mobility companies exploring the Danish market, we’ve facilitated partnerships with both city stakeholders and local companies to test solutions in real-life environments.

With the digital talent shortage being a hot topic, how can Denmark stay competitive in attracting the right profiles to support both real estate and proptech startups?

It starts with a compelling narrative – and Denmark has one.

We offer meaningful work, a strong work-life balance, and a clear focus on sustainable innovation. That’s incredibly attractive to digital talent who want purpose-driven careers.

At Copenhagen Capacity, we actively promote the Danish job market through international campaigns, matchmaking events, and partnerships with universities and innovation hubs.

For proptech startups, we also offer tailored support to help attract the right tech talent – whether that’s software engineers, data specialists, or growth profiles.

To stay competitive, we need to continue investing in international visibility, seamless relocation processes, and a strong welcoming culture for global talent.

What are you personally most excited to experience or contribute at PropTech Symposium’25?

I’m most excited about the connections – between people, sectors, and ideas.

Every year, the PropTech Symposium brings together such a diverse mix of stakeholders, and it’s always where new collaborations are sparked.

That’s wonderful to hear. The buzz and the meeting of minds and ideas is really something that stands out. Every year we have seen new collaborations come from meeting at PropTech Symposium – we expect nothing less for the 2025-edition.

Finally: We love inspiration and knowledge sharing. What is something that has inspired you that you would like to share?
